The Moon entered her 1st Quarter in Virgo today.

The Hermit from the Tarot Mucha deck.

Today is Mother’s Day and the Moon entered her 1st Quarter in Virgo.

You may feel drawn toward practical activities over the next few day. Spring cleaning, re-organizing things around the house or at work. You may re-think plans you’ve made or are considering — or you might decide to follow through on making plans. This is also a good time to turn your attention to health, diet and fitness.

This is a time where you find emotional satisfaction from helping others with problem solving or finding clarification in confusion. Do be on the lookout for any tendency toward being critical of those who do not see things as you do, Wise Soul.

The Hermit tarot card is ruled by Virgo, which represents the Moon’s call for awakening, inner work, meditation, reflection, shedding light on things and a gentle reminder to plan solitude and alone time for spiritual growth. Pay attention to your dreams at this time as they may hold clues from your Higher Self for solutions to problems or a direction worth pursuing. The Hermit card can also be a predictor that an important event may happen in the next 30 days.

The Moon enters Libra on May 14th, with a focus on emotions.

Beltane Maypole Tarot Spread Reading

In honor of Beltane, I offer this Beltane Maypole Tarot Spread reading for the general community.

Although circumstances in life may have recently seemed beyond your control, hang on because the Universe is clearing the way.

Oftentimes when we stop our struggle against the unfairness of things, when we surrender to what is going on around us, we can more clearly see the best way out for ourselves. Change can be scary; it can shake our foundation at times. However, let’s also admit that we sometimes need this shake up to get us out of a rut or out of an unhealthy situation. Otherwise we remain stuck.

Pay attention to your intuition right now, which may come through in your dream time. Seek guidance from your Higher Self as you make important decisions over the coming few months. Have faith that you will rise above things and you will have new stability in your life.

A simple ceremony that I plan to do this evening is to write what I want to accomplish in the next few months on a bay leaf. A simple scrap of paper would work as well. I typically sit before a candle, holding this between my palms, envisioning what I want to manifest. When I am ready, with gratitude to the Universe, I burn and release my wish.

The male and female energies are strong this day. This is the time of year for growth and creativity. The veils between worlds are thin. You may feel a surge of energy today.

May we all receive many Beltane Blessings this season.

Why Get a Tarot Reading?

It’s important that you know right up front that I am not formally trained as a tarot card reader. I learned card reading from my mother at age 12. I’m fortunate that I was encouraged from a young age to trust my intuition, and my psychic abilities. And you know what, I am still learning. I’m also a retired mental health care worker, a career where my intuition served me well. What you want to know, however, is why people turn to tarot readers for help and if getting a reading is right for you. Let’s look at reasons people seek help from a tarot reader.

Curiosity. You may have been curious for a while about tarot readings. Maybe you have friends or family who have had a good experience from getting a tarot card reading. You might even have considered going to a tarot reader near you but you’re worried someone might “see” you so you don’t follow through on that thought. Perhaps you’ve tried one of those free tarot readings online, but it didn’t quite give you what you were looking for. Here’s some advice that I’m happy to pass on to you: a tarot reader, even an online reader, should want to know a little about you so that they can help you find the best answers for you. Think about this … if you go to see a medical professional do you want them to “guess” about you and what is going on that brought you in to see them? No, of course not. A tarot reader doesn’t need to know all your deepest secrets, but if you are truly seeking help the reader will need to know your reason for wanting a reading.

Help with an important decision. Perhaps you’re feeling conflicted or unsure about an important decision that you need to make. I’ll be the first to say that I do not look into the future and tell you what decision you need to make. Anyone who says they can do this, hold onto your money and quickly go the other way. A tarot reader can help you look at your options to see what attracts you about each one, what doubts or fears do you hold about each, and what consequences there might be for each possibility. The future is never fixed and only you are in control of your future. Let me use an example to show you what I mean … let’s say you’ve been offered a job making more money but you’d have to move far away from friends, family, your support system. The job you have is one you enjoy but it doesn’t pay as well as the job being offered, however having your friends, family and support system nearby is very important to you … oh dear, it can seem so complicated to decide what to do in a situation like this. This is an area where a tarot reader can help you figure out what’s most important to you.

Reassurance. Sometimes what we’re seeking is simple validation. Maybe you’re pretty sure about the decision you want to make but you’d like to get some validation from the cards that your decision is right for you. Sometimes you just want reassurance from the Universe that you are important, that you have value and that you are loved. This is a big one, so don’t discount it.

Insight. We can be too close to a situation to be able to see clearly sometimes. Figuring out what it is that you may be missing is another situation where a tarot reading can help. A reading may be able to provide some insight, some new ways of looking at a situation or to help you tune in to your own intuition when things are confusing.

Connection with your Higher Self. Much like I find through my practice of yoga, I have also found that my work with my tarot cards reconnects me with my Higher Self in a deep and meaningful way. A tarot reading can empower you, help you to connect with the very special and precious person that you are.

It is true there are no guarantees in tarot reading. Only you can decide if working with a tarot reader is right for you. There are no quick fixes, no miracles from tarot card readings. What I strive to do as a tarot reader is to help you navigate the difficulties and the triumphs in life in a way that works best for you. My goal is for you to come away from the reading having faith in your abilities, hope for your future goals, and with new insight for yourself.
